Christian AVÉROUS

Dr. Christian P. Avérous is Head of the Environmental Performance and Information Division of the OECD, Environment Directorate, a post he has held since 1992. He is responsible for OECD programmes on environmental data and indicators, country environmental performance reviews of member countries, and material flows and resource productivity.
Dr. Avérous' work has led to a number of publications on "State of the Environment in OECD Countries", "OECD Environmental Data", "OECD Environmental Indicators", and 60 country environmental performance reviews covering all OECD countries, as well as Bulgaria, Belarus, Chile, Russia and China.
Since joining the OECD in 1973, he has led projects in various areas, including urban affairs, transport and environment. He has also participated in many international conferences and published numerous articles in international journals. He has worked as consultant for the World Bank and the UNEP, and has taught courses at the University of Paris, the University Central of Venezuela and the University of California-Berkeley.
Dr. Avérous is a French citizen. He graduated 1st from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (Paris) and holds a Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning (University of California-Berkeley) and a Ph.D. in Economics (France).
