GOLOMBEK, Diego

Science Communicator, Head of the Chronobiology Laboratory and full Professor University of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Diego Golombek is a distinguished scientist who is specialized in biology and obtained a PhD at the University of Buenos Aires. He has taught a number of undergraduate and post graduate courses and held research positions in universities throughout North and South America. He is currently heading the Chronobiology Laboratory and is full Professor at the University of Quilmes in Buenos Aires. He has published over 120 scientific research papers in journals of high international repute, and has published chapters and books in neuroscience, chemistry and biology. 

Diego Golombek has also made a profound contribution to the popularization of science. He is a remarkable science educator and populariser. The list of his achievements is hefty and he has received several national and international awards for his work in science communication. Through his books, articles, journals and stories that have been used by teachers and readers of all ages from around the world, he has demonstrated his ability to render accessible scientific notions and link them to our everyday lives. He has founded a popular summer science camp, created the first science cultural centre that provides a venue for science and the arts to interact, created his own science TV programme “Project G”, and worked on several other TV productions and radio shows.
