Regional Executive and CEO Europe, Middle East & Africa

Wim Wielens was appointed Regional Executive and CEO for the EMEA region in May 2002. Before that Mr. Wielens headed up the Western Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

He started his career in 1974 with Philips Audio Video factories in Eindhoven and Tessenderloo. Wim Wielens held several management positions in Philips' audio and video businesses before being appointed Managing Director of the business group Personal Audio and Home Systems at Philips Consumer Electronics in Eindhoven in 1988. One year later, he became Managing Director of CE's business group Audio, also based in Eindhoven.

In 1993 Mr. Wielens was appointed CEO of Philips Austria, and supervising activities in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Born in the Netherlands in 1945, Mr. Wielens studied Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration at Delft Technical University.
