Jordan to Host World Science Forum in 2017 27.11.2013  

Followed by the next 2015 World Science Forum in Budapest in four years from now the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will organise the next Forum, it was resolved by an unanimous vote cast by the steering committee of WSF in Rio de Janeiro. On the recommendation by MTA and WSF president József Pálinkás WSF's Steering Committee will include in future both the current and future organisers of the meeting, namely the representatives of the Academies of Science of Brazil and Jordan.

As a result of the decision of the Steering Committee of World Science Forum initiated by József Pálinkás MTA and WSF president, every fourth year from 2013 onward the  World Science Forum takes place in countries outside Europe. The sixth WSF this year organised with huge success by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences with the theme „Science for sustainable development," made it clear that the influence and responsibility of science have never been so pronounced in handling global challenges and turning the principles of global sustainability into reality.

At the meeting of the Steering Committee with the unanimous approval of all partner organisations of the Forum it has been announced that the 2017 World Science Forum will be hosted by Jordan. At the Closing Ceremony of the Forum HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan greeted the participants as the organiser of the 2017 event and in line with the results of the 2013 Forum stated "Science must play a leading role in ending global inequality which is stifling our progress as a human family.
